Massachusetts Drought Alert
Massachusetts Drought Alert
February 12, 2026
The Southeast Region has worsened to a Level 2-Significant Drought. Frozen ground and long-term precipitation deficits are limiting groundwater recharge and lowering stream and lake levels.
You can help by:
Minimizing overall water use.
Following local water use restrictions.
Fixing indoor leaks, such as from toilets, faucets, and showers, which account for more than 60% of indoor water use.
Planning now to transition to a drought-tolerant, irrigation-free yard this summer.
Visit the Mass.gov drought status page for current conditions and more details.
